Brand Identity
Unione Sportiva Avellino 1912 is an Italian football club based in Avellino, Campania, currently in Serie C. The new crest pays homage to Avellino’s 108 year history, incorporating elements from previous incarnations of their logo, whilst streamlining the clichéd shield imagery common among most Italian clubs and implementing a two tone colour scheme. The club’s traditional colours are green and white, and the team is nicknamed the ‘Lupi’ (wolves). A mainstay throughout the club’s history is the wolf head imagery on the crest, and I have honoured this symbol as it resonates strongly with Avellino and the surrounding Irpinia area, symbolising guardianship and loyalty. The wolf is facing east – looking to the future and new beginnings.
